CIS Upstream Technology Summit
10–12 March 2009

Concept

Oil and gas are the global commodities.

CIS Upstream Technology Summit

Today Russia is the world’s largest oil producer and holds the world’s largest natural gas reserves, which makes this country extremely important to world energy markets, underlined by tensions in the Middle East.

Caspian region countries are also seen as key players in ensuring global energy security. In recent years foreign investments have poured into region’s oil and gas sector because of its enormous production potential.

Also, this is one of the only places in the world where reserve estimates seem to go up and up. Currently Russia’s proven oil reserves are estimated to be 60 billion barrels, i.e. 7th largest in the world. But according to different experts, country’s undiscovered, technically feasible reserves could be larger than those of any other country in the world.

However it is one thing to be sitting on untapped oil and gas reserves and another to be able to exploit them commercially. Although oil and gas producers in the CIS region have been very successful in maximising oil recovery from apparently depleted fields, it’s the exploration and development of new oil- and gas-reach regions of Eastern Siberia, Russian Far East, Arctic shelf and Caspian Sea that’s currently at the top of the agenda.

Apart from billions in investments these mega-projects will also require the most advanced technology and proven expertise necessary to overcome complex geological and environmental conditions.

The CIS Upstream Technology Summit will address key challenges keeping the region’s E&P technology decision makers “up at night”.

Its main aim is to create discussion between busy and focused E&P leaders. This is an opportunity to debate, benchmark and learn from other leaders and stakeholders in the Russian and CIS market.

CIS UTS’08 is a C-level event reserved for 100 participants. The format includes expert workshops, facilitated roundtables, peer-to-peer networking and coordinated technology meetings.

GDS International has built a reputation for the quality of its events amongst C-level executives in the finance, health, pharmaceutical and telecoms markets. We bring that same unique and sophisticated approach to planning an intimate and effective E&P event.
